Your Name (Kimi No Nawa) Movie Review: Exceeding Expectations

Your Name
Directed by: Makoto Shinkai

Awesomeness Rating: 96%

My Review:

Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) is not an ordinary film. This is a feast for your senses. It totally exceeded my expectations. Up until now, I cannot seem to get over with the story.

I admit. I am not a fan of Japanese animation films. I am just not into it. That is the main reason why when my friend suggested this movie, I just brushed it off.

It was later last year that I decided to watch it and give it a try. Turn out, this is one of the best movies I ever seen. I loved it so much that I have watched it multiple times already.

The story is about gender swap.  The boy becomes a girl and the girl becomes a boy. Very clich right? That's what I thought too.

Because I am not into this film, I did not give attention on the first part of the film. I also said to myself that I will give it a bad rating. Little did I know that each and every scene of this movie is connected to what will happen next. I become more and more attentive up to the point that I feel I am part of the film and it's struggles. It feels like an out of the body experience.

This is one of the films that I truly feel the love. The romantic and mystical feeling of being in love. The love that you do not want to let go. The love that will give you a roller coaster ride of emotions. I am so hooked with the film that I felt love, loss, and being in love again.

Just to Sum It Up:

-Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) is a very good film. Period.
